Holocaust Survivor Talk - Rachel Miller
Wednesday, May 1 at 7pm in the Library auditorium
 
As part of U City Library's programming in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, please join us to meet St. Louis-area resident Rachel Miller, who survived the Holocaust as a child by changing her name and hiding in rural France, while others in her family perished in the camps.  This will be a special opportunity to listen, ask questions, learn, and reflect.  
 
Book Discussion Event: My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me
Thursday, May 2 at 7pm in the Library auditorium
As part of U City Library's programming in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, please join us for a special discussion of Jennifer Teege's book My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me: a Black Woman Discovers Her Family's Nazi Past.  Teege, a German-Nigerian woman, only learned as an adult that her grandfather was notorious Nazi commandant Amon Goeth.  Her memoir explores her own past as well as that of her German family, and examines how her life has been affected by her discovery.

A limited number of copies will be available at the Library for checkout.

Author Event: Michael Don
Wednesday, May 15 at 7pm in the Library auditorium
Join us for a discussion with Michael Don about his new short story collection Partners and Strangers.  "Dark, enigmatic, and sometimes comic, the stories in Partners and Strangers unite intimate anxieties with public dangers."  

The author teaches at the  English Department at Penn State University. Previously, he taught at St. Paul’s University in Nairobi, Kenya, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He grew up in St. Louis.  

Copies of the book will be available for purchase at this event. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.
