Author Visit: Lorenzo Gonzalez

Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
Join us for a visit from local author Lorenzo Gonzalez, who will discuss his autobiography, To Return to Cuba. The book traces his evolution from a teenage revolutionary through his college years in Hungary. To Return to Cuba features a rare historical perspective and first-hand description of the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis through his experiences as a Cuban revolutionary soldier — information completely suppressed by the Cuban government. It also details his decision to attempt a dangerous, and potentially fatal, escape to freedom. A resident of University City, Gonzalez is an instructor in the Political Science department at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he teaches Comparative Politics and Political Systems in South America, Central America and the Caribbean.

The Oct. 3 event is free and open to all, though English- and Spanish-language copies of To Return to Cuba will be available for purchase and signing. Refreshments will be served.
